Prophotohub & Jerry Ghionis
B-DAY September-6
1) PPH: Where is home ??
JG: Home is in an apartment in South Melbourne,
Australia. That being said, I feel quite at home living out of a suitcase in
another country.
2) PPH: How long have you been shooting ??
JG: professionally for 15 years.
3) PPH: What camera gear do you use / and what's your favorite lens ??
JG: I use 2 x 5d Mark II's and recently have been shooting with a Phase One and a P40+back. The quality and clarity of a Phase image is extraordinary. My favorite Canon lens is the 70-200 f2.8 L
4) PPH: Do you have a memorable wedding photography moment ??
JG: There are many but last year I shot a wedding in Miami, Florida of a beautiful couple, Alex and Hazel. After an amazing day, we ended up at the beach but it was pitch black. After insisting that we stay, I shot some of my favorite images of recent times. They looked beautiful straight out of the camera. One wow led to another wow which led to another wow which led to my favorite wow of the day. There was magic in the air. I could hear nothing but the wind playing a symphony and I was playing in tune. The final image was a homage to Michelangelo's "Creation of Adam."
5) PPH: First car? Today's car? What do you want in the future ??
JG: Ford Falcon XE was my first car. Up until a couple of years ago, I owned a BMW 330ci for 5 years. I now own a black Chrysler 300c. I love my current car but I would love a Maserati or an Aston Martin Vantage.
6) PPH: Is there anyone else in the "biz" you enjoy shooting with? why? who would you like to shoot with ??
JG: I haven't really shot with anyone else. I would have liked to shoot with Herb Ritts. (RIP)
7) PPH: Where would you like to shoot that you haven't yet ??
JG:Cambodia. I travelled there recently and fell in love with the people and culture. The temples are amazing.
8) PPH: Where would be your dream " desti " location ??
JG: Shooting a wedding that wanted a location shoot all around Italy.
9) PPH: What good tips can you give to a photographer starting
off today ??
JG: Don't forget to be a business person. Choose light above a nice location. Extraordinary effort, extraordinary results. Average effort, average results. Don't be a slave to the mouse. Lear to delegate. Don't forget what's most important to you. Remember, you don't have to be the best. You just have to be better than last week. Stop reading this and get to work!
10) PPH: What is the one approach / step that took your studio to where it is today ??
JG: I didn't waste my energy on what I feared. I expended my energy on my goals.
pph: In your words any great projects / workshop / seminars / dvds / in the works ??
